Born and raised in Germany, I’ve been calling Western North Carolina my home for more than 20 years. I live with my husband and our two cats in Cullowhee, NC.
In 2006, I enrolled in a Yoga Teacher Training to learn more about yoga, not to teach. I fell in love and started teaching yoga less than a month after graduating from my 230-hour training. Ten years later, I took the next step to expand my yoga knowledge and enrolled in a 300-hour Therapeutically-Oriented Yoga Teacher Training.
Yoga led me to massage and in 2009, I became a Board Certified and NC Licensed Massage Therapist. Since then, yoga and massage have been a big part of my life. I’ve traveled to India to learn more about yoga; I’ve traveled to Thailand to learn Thai Yoga Massage; and I continue to visit countries to experience yoga and massage around the world. To share my knowledge and experience, I teach continuing education courses for yoga instructors and massage therapists (or anyone else interested). All courses are Yoga Alliance and NCBTMB approved.
After earning my Master’s Degree in Health Education, I began teaching Wellness and PE classes at the local Community College to students ranging in age from 15 to 60+ years. As an Adjunct Instructor at Western Carolina University, I taught freshmen how to lead a healthy lifestyle. I now assist in the massage program and help with student clinic.
Outside of yoga, massage, and teaching, I live a very active life that includes running, biking, and hiking. I love being outdoors and explore. My biggest accomplishments include a triathlon, two half marathons, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
